Cuyahoga County Receives $5.7M in Energy Efficiency Stimulus Funds
Download this press release.
Cuyahoga County has received a $5.7 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (stimulus) funds from the U.S. Department of Energy for promoting energy efficiency throughout the County
The stimulus grant, the largest made by DOE in the State of Ohio to date, will be used for a wide range of activities, including grants to cities and villages in the County to identify and implement their own energy efficiency improvements, energy efficiency improvements in County-owned and operated facilities, and a wind turbine pilot project at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds.
“We are extremely pleased with the grant,’’ said Lee Trotter, deputy County Administrator. “By making our own buildings more energy efficient, and assisting our communities in doing so, we will be able to save taxpayers’ dollars, and do our part in improving the environment Countywide.”
Work on the county buildings is expected to begin in early 2010, with a call for project proposals from the communities for projects before the end of 2009.
