Responsibility:
The Workforce Investment Board (WIB) serves as the advisory body for the Cuyahoga County Department of Workforce Development. The purpose of the department is to provide resources and information that assist residents of Cuyahoga County in moving toward financial independence through employment. Its programs and services include education, job training, job search assistance and employment-related youth programs funded through the federal Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA). The WIB, by law, provides policy and guidance and exercises oversight for Service Delivery Area 3 (City of Cleveland/Cuyahoga County), in partnership with the Board of County Commissioners and city of Cleveland.
Qualifications:
In order to meet the requirements of the federal law governing Workforce Investment Boards (Workforce Investment Act of 1998), a majority of WIB members must be from the private sector; and they must be owners of businesses, chief executives or other private sector executives who have substantial management or policy responsibilities. By law, the WIB must include public sector representatives of organized labor and community-based organizations; also, a representative of each of the following: education, vocational rehabilitation agency, public assistance agency, economic development agency, representatives of the one-stop partners and the public employment service.

Public Meetings:
Regular meetings are generally held quarterly from 8:00-10:00 am, at Employment Connection, 1020 Bolivar Road, 2nd floor, Cleveland, Ohio 44115 . Meeting times and location are changed occasionally by agreement of the trustees.
